Building resilience in Aerospace and DefenCe

In the next 20 years, aerospace will need nearly 40,000 planes, whilst severely decreasing its emissions.

Meanwhile, defence must restock its supplies, whilst preparing for new threats. Yet some military planes still have six-year lead times.

Both industries will need to become more dynamic and resilient if they are to thrive in this rapidly changing and uncertain world.

To do so they should embrace two trends:

  • Resilient supply chains: Building supply chains that can withstand shocks and quickly adapt to new challenges
  • Flexible manufacturing: Moving from single product lines to smart, adaptive manufacturing setups, enabled by new technologies

In our new report, Building Resilience in Aerospace and Defence, we look at each, and provide practical recommendations, with examples, for how to deliver them.
